My Story - Oral Cancer, Dry Mouth Relief

This is the story of Gary Williams, a man who contracted oral cancer and who went through the suffering of losing his saliva glands because of radiation therapy. Losing your saliva glands makes it hard to eat, talk and it can even be unpleasant to breath at times.

Loosing my Saliva Glands

Hi my name is the Gary Williams, I live in Cameron Park California. I'm here today to talk to you about Salese. It's a product that I ran across a number of months ago and it helps me with my dry mouth. I contracted cancer a number of years ago, actually about two and a half years ago, and went through five and a half months of radiation treatment and the fun part of it was that when it was all over, I had no saliva glands. And so I went through a process of trying to figure out how to survive after that because without saliva glands it's really hard to swallow food while you are trying to get nourishment. I lost a number of pounds through my cancer treatment - I lost about fifty pounds. Coming home I was concerned about getting some weight back on. I was pretty sickly at the time so being able to eat was a big deal for me;

Trying Different Lozenges

I couldn't swallow very well, had this tremendous dry mouth, and tried a number of products such as Biotene. Some lozenge products did work pretty well; however, they were fairly short lived. You put one in your mouth and then twenty minutes later it is gone and now you have dry mouth again. So I was going through that and not having much success. I was getting more depressed all the time, honestly, and feeling pretty bad about it.

Cancer Treatment and Losing Saliva Glands

Initially, when I started my cancer treatment I was told by the cancer radiation doctor that I wouldn't lose my saliva glands and then after it was all over, five and a half months later, I actually did lose them and you know, it was really no skin off their backs and they didn't really seem to be too concerned about it but it dramatically impacted my life.

Finding a Product that Works

So as time went on I was talking to one of my friends at church and was telling her about things and she was asking how I was doing and I was telling her how the dry mouth had been a problem for me. She said she had a friend who's involved in a new product that works on dry mouth. So she said that she would look into it and get back with me and so we went to dinner at her house a few weeks later. She had this Salese product for me that she gave me that she had gotten from a friend of hers and I tried it. It worked really well so since then I've probably been using it for about, I think, it's about seven months. I'm guessing, it might be only six months but then I've been very happy with it and I'm here today just to tell you that for me, I would say it's been a God send.

Help with Swalloing, Breathing, and Talking

I know there's a lot of pluses to the product that I don't even associate with as far as how it does help your teeth not to decay and a number of other things the product does. Really it's not that I have no interest, because I do, but that wasn't the main problem I was having. It's just the day to day swallowing, the day to day breathing, and the day to day being able to talk to someone. I wasn't able to have a conversation more than a couple minutes long without drinking bottled water so it was, a tough deal, but I think this product has helped me tremendously and I'm extremely grateful for it.
